Cardinal Bertone to Visit Spain

VATICAN CITY, JAN. 14, 2009 (Zenit.org).- Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Benedict XVI’s secretary of state, will visit Spain early next month, the Spanish bishops’ conference reported today.

The cardinal was invited by the bishops to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. He will visit the nation Feb. 3-5.

The secretary of state will give a conference on «Human Rights in the Magisterium of Benedict XVI,» reported the press office of the conference.

Cardinal Bertone will also have various meetings with departments of the bishops’ conference, and with state authorities and public officials.

The cardinal is currently in Mexico, where he is representing Benedict XVI at the 6th World Meeting of Families.
