In his traditional greetings at the conclusion of the general audience, the Pope reflected on the unique opportunities each of the groups enjoy.

To youth, he said, «With your presence you witness faith in Jesus Christ who calls you to build his Church together with your pastors, each one according to his responsibility. Correspond with generosity to his invitation.»

The Holy Father offered words of encouragement for the sick attending the audience, «here today to fulfill an act of faith and ecclesial communion.»

«The daily weight of your suffering, if offered to Jesus Christ Crucified, gives you the possibility of cooperating in your salvation and that of the world,» he told them.

Finally, the Pontiff reminded newlyweds that with their union, they are «called to be an expression of the love that binds Christ to the Church.»

He encouraged them: «Be always conscious of the high mission to which the sacrament you received commits you.»
