HONG KONG, AUG. 27, 2010 (Zenit.org).- Faithful of the Church in Hong Kong were among those marking the 100th anniversary of Mother Teresa’s birth on Thursday.

More than 400 people attended a memorial Mass at the cathedral, celebrated by Bishop John Tong.

The 71-year-old prelate expressed his hope that Blessed Teresa’s dream of having the Missionaries of Charity serve in China would one day come true.

Bishop Tong characterized the Calcutta nun as a «candle that lights up the goodwill of humanity.»

And he pointed to her faith and religious commitment as the force behind her charity work, urging the faithful to also nurture these two elements.
