Q. Jakub, what is the secret to the success of the «One of Us» campaign in Poland?

A. Aside from the hard work of the Committee and reaching out to everywhere and everyone, we did not do anything extraordinary. We had no money and no time to carefully prepare the logistics. Without a powerful structure nor the luxury of months of preparation, we had to use common sense and our experience to start working: organizations web, gaining the official support of the Polish Bishops Conference, cooperation with our media patrons , online campaigns, ambassadors, etc.

Last but not least: we were convincing our friends and relatives to say «yes» on this very simple issue. «Long, long time ago we were all embryos. Why not to give a chance to others so they join us?»

Q. Why should one be involved in the One of Us Campaign?

Our initiative is not a fairy tale. We are here because we are not indifferent to the fact that human life is unjustly destroyed. We are here because we feel a commitment towards those who can not be protected even by their mothers and fathers. We are here to demand the legal protection of human life on behalf of those who are not able to do it on their own.
We are gathered around a common purpose: we are here to make an attempt to render the European campaign as something good and just for everyone.

Europe is not an enterprise established for making profits, but a wonderful civilization where even the best standards will not replace the natural human ties; both within families and among friends. Ties of love for every neighbor, even the smallest and those most in need.

Q. Will there be a One of Us assembly in Poland?

A. The last General Assembly of the initiative will be in Krakow in November. Krakow is the city of Karol Wojtyła.

Today we could call it a forerunner of the European integration. It is a common heritage of many nations which today form the EU Member States. We are very proud of it. Krakow is thus an ideal place for a meeting of free European Union  citizens as well as a very inspiring one.

We want that this last assembly would be the first European pro-life Congress of organizations that were working for the “One of Us”campaign. We have an unique opportunity of creating an European network of people and organizations that have learned how to work together for a cause. Let’s not lose it. Let’s stay in touch. Let’s work again and again on new different causes as the fight against the Truth of the human dignity will continue.
