The Holy Father’s daily Mass, a tradition he began after his election to the papacy will now be open to Roman parishioners.
Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, director of the Holy See Press Office, confirmed that a group from each parish in Rome will be invited to attend the daily Mass which is held in his residence at Casa Sanctae Marthae.
Beginning in January, Cardinal Agostino Vallini, the Vicar of Rome will inform pastors on how to apply to attend the Mass with a group of about 25 people from the parish. As of now, the daily Mass has been attended by Vatican employees.
The initiative, Fr. Lombardi said, would allow the people of Rome to interact with their bishop, since it is not possible for the Pope to visit every parish in the diocese.
