The Holy See continues its reorganization efforts by awarding contracts to two consulting firms to bring their communications and accounting procedures to international standards.

According to a communique by the Holy See, the announcement confirms the Pope’s “desire to draw from the expertise and best practices of reputed agencies around the world to continue the curial reform now underway.”

McKinsey and Company, a U.S. based global consulting firm, was selected to outline an integration of the Vatican’s communications outlets. The outlets includes L’Osservatore Romano, Vatican Radio, the Vatican Television Center, the Pontifical Council for Social Communication and the Vatican’s Publishing House. The goal of McKinsey and Company’s study is to make the various outlets “more functional, efficient and modern.”

The second contract was awarded to KPMG, an international auditing firm. The firm will study accounting procedures within the Holy See so “that they’re brought into line with international standards.”
