Cardinal Raymond Burke, prefect of the Apostolic Signatura, says Cardinal Walter Kasper’s address to the cardinals on divorce and remarriage and Communion met with clear disagreement among the College.

The cardinal said this on EWTN TV’s «The World Over.»

«The fact that he gave the text before the College of Cardinals does not in any way signify that it was well received by all the cardinals,» Cardinal Burke said.

He warned of the creation of «a great deal of potential disillusionment,» recalling that the Church’s teaching on the indissolubility of marriage is clearly stated in the Gospel.

«Here we’re not talking about truth that developed over time but here we’re talking about the very words of Christ himself in the Gospel in which he taught — and no one contests — the indissolubility of marriage.»
