Setting the groundwork for canonization, Pope Francis approved publication of decrees on miracles attributed to the intercession of two blesseds during an audience Tuesday at the Vatican with Cardinal Angelo Amato, prefect of the Congregation for Saints’ Causes.
Miracles
The Holy Father recognized an Italian layperson, founder of a hospital-hospice, and an Italian priest as having obtained miracles with their intercession.
– Blessed Amato Ronconi, Italian layperson of the Secular Franciscan Order, founder of the Hospital-Hospice for Poor Pilgrims of Saludecio, now known as the Beato Amato Ronconi Nursing Home (1226-1292)
– Blessed Ludovico da Casoria (born Arcangelo Palmentieri), Italian professed priest of the Order of Friars Minor and founder of the Congregation of Franciscan Sisters of St. Elizabeth (“Bigie), also known as the Grey Sisters. (1814-1885)
Heroic virtue
The Pontiff recognized the heroic virtue of the following two European priests, who are now given the title “venerable.”
-Alain-Marie Guynot de Boismenu, a French missionary bishop in Papua New Guinea (1870-1953)
– Wilhelm Janauschek, Austrian professed priest of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (1859-1926)
