Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili is preparing to visit Vatican City in Rome and meet Pope Francis, the world leader of the Catholic Church.
According to agenda.ge, the announcement of President’s upcoming visit was made following a meeting today between Margvelashvili and Archbishop Marek Solchinski, Apostolic Nuncio to Georgia.
During their meeting they discussed details on the Georgian President’s visit to Italy. Although he will be in Rome in April, no details on the exact date of his visit were released.
This will be the first time any of Georgia’s leaders, President or Prime Minister, has met Pope Francis.
