To the Secretary General of the Episcopate,

Monsignor Jose Daniel Falla Robles

Your Excellency,

His Holiness Pope Francis has been informed that, during the days of August 13 and 14, the 18th Meeting is taking place in the city of Cartagena of the Indies, of the Ordinary Jurisdiction whose central theme is ‘Transitional Justice, Peace and Post-Conflict.”

The subject of this Meeting is of crucial importance for Colombia’s future, and in the present globalized time, it has a scope that goes beyond the national borders themselves.

Therefore, His Holiness supports the works with his prayers, so that, in the framework of institutionalism, they will contribute with courage and creativity to identify solutions that reinforce peace and justice, in respect of the national and international juridical order. In this way, the Meeting will help to build an increasingly inclusive society and obtain a stable and lasting peace.

With these sentiments, the Holy Father cordially greets Your Excellency, while he invokes the Lord’s blessing upon all the participants in the Meeting and their families.

Signed,

Cardinal Pietro Parolin,

Secretary of State of His Holiness
