The Vatican Museums are promoting blood donation through a new initiative.
According to Vatican Radio, the museums are participating in the RossoArte Initiative, a joint venture by the museums, along with Rome’s Tor Vergata Policlinico (General Hospital) and Hospital Chaplaincy and the volunteer organization In punta di piedi.
This cooperative effort is intended to raise awareness about the need to keep up the hospital blood supply and to encourage exposure to the great cultural patrimony of Western civilization.
Turning to how one can partake, all donors, from now until the end of the year, who present themselves at the Tor Vergata transfusion center will receive a personal voucher for a very special ticket rate that comes with “skip the line” privileges.
According to a press release from the museums, the initiative seeks to “offer a concrete sign of gratitude towards all those who, in a profoundly significant act of civic responsibility and solidarity periodically, anonymously and responsibly donate blood,” as well as “to unite the joy of giving to the thrill of experiencing the masterpieces kept in the Pope’s Museums.”
Further details about the initiative will be released at a press conference to be held April 7th in the Vatican Museums’ conference hall.
