Pope Francis knows how to work a crowd and the crowd he worked Jun 9, 2018, was young, enthusiastic, and a bit loud. In other words, it was his kind of event.
The crowd gathered in the entrance of the Paul VI Audience Hall Entrance, comprised more than 500 children — Catholic, Muslim, Buddhist, Orthodox, Atheist – participating in the Children’s Train.  At the risk of stating the obvious, everyone looked to be having a fabulous time.
The Children’s Train, sponsored by the Pontifical Council for Culture, grew out of the Courtyard of the Gentiles.  The train involves children from disadvantaged backgrounds, many of whom have parents in prison and live in rough neighborhoods. Many came from the large suburbs or Rome and Milan.
The children have classes and offer ideas for improving life and the world. And, of course, they have the opportunity to share their ideas with the Holy Father.
