In a video published on YouTube, young Iraqis thank Pope Francis for his encouragement, reported “Vatican News” in Italian on Monday, October 22, 2018.
Their gratitude was recorded in Italian, French, and English with the participation of several young girls and young people as well as some priests and Monsignor Shlemon Warduni, Auxiliary Bishop of Baghdad, who promised to pray for the Pope and assured him of their unity with the whole Church. The young people invited the Holy Father to visit Iraq, and said to him: “See you soon.”
The video is in response to that of Pope Francis filmed during a meeting last October 13 with Safa Al-Abbia, 26, member of the Chaldean Church and auditor at the Synod on Young People, who had to return to his country.
During the meeting at Saint Martha’s Residence, the Pontiff addressed a special message to Iraqi young people, which Safa published after he returned to his country. The Pope confided that he carries in his heart the young people of Iraq and that he is conscious of their sufferings. He encouraged them to have confidence in the future, not to be discouraged, and to entrust themselves to the Lord. The Holy Father assured them of his prayers and gave them his blessing.
