On September 24, 2019, Pope Francis went to Frosinone for a surprise visit to the Sky Citadel of the ”New Horizons” International Community.

Founded by Chiara Amirante in 1993, “New Horizons” receives young people in difficulty, affected by addictions or prostitution, in view of reinserting them in society. The Community has 210 centers and five “Sky Citadels,” small family villages to have the experience of being received and to be able to “color hell with Heaven.” It promotes life in community and Christian formation.

According to “Vatican News,” the Pope arrived in Frosinone, some 90 kilometers south-east of Rome, around 9:15 this morning, accompanied by lyrical singer Andrea Bocelli. Spread like fire, the news made passers-by run.

The Holy Father is close to this Community. Last June 8, on the 25th anniversary of its foundation, he telephoned to express his good wishes and sent a video-message, inviting the young people not to lose their “sense of humor.” “I would like to be present among you,” he said while recommending that they remember well “the good that God has done in your institution and also what God has done in your lives.”
