Resignation of archbishop of Koupéla, Burkina Faso, and appointment of successor

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the archdiocese of Koupéla, Burkina Faso, presented by His Excellency Séraphin François Rouamba. At the same time, he has appointed Bishop Gabriel Sayaogo of Manga as archbishop of the same metropolitan see.

Appointment of bishop-prelate of the territorial prelature of Chuquibambilla, Peru

The Holy Father has appointed as bishop-prelate of the territorial prelature of Chuquibambilla, Peru, the Reverend Fr. Edinson Edgardo Farfán Córdova, O.S.A., currently apostolic administrator “ad nutum Sanctae Sedis” of the same circumscription.

Fr. Edinson Edgardo Farfán Córdova, O.S.A., was born on 21 September 1974 in Tambo Grande, territory of the archdiocese of Piura. He entered the Augustinian Order in 1998. He carried out his novitiate in Lima in 2002 and gave his religious vows on 11 January 2003. He studied philosophy in the major seminary of the archdiocese of Trujillo from 1999 to 2001. He was subsequently sent to Bolivia, where he studied theology at the Catholic University of Cochabamba during the years 2003 to 2006, obtaining a licentiate in spiritual theology and pedagogy. He was ordained a priest on 26 July 2008.

As a priest he has held the following roles: coordinator of the International Commission for Communications and Publications of the Organization of Augustinians of Latin America (2006 to 2014); parish vicar of the parish of Santa Ana di Cala Cala, archdiocese of Cochabamba, Bolivia (2007 to 2008); parish vicar of “San José Obrero”, Diocese of Chulucanas, Peru, where he was also lecturer in theology and spiritual director of the major seminary (2009 to 2010); master of pre-novices of the Augustinian Order (2011 to 2012); parish priest of the parish of “Nuestra Señora di Monserrat”, archdiocese of Trujillo, Peru (2012 to 2013); lecturer in theology at the “Benedict XVI” Catholic University, archdiocese of Trujillo, Peru (2013 to 2015); episcopal vicar for consecrated life in the archdiocese of Trujillo, Peru (2017 to 2018), and within his Order, secretary-general of the Organization of Augustinians in Latin America (2015 to 2019).

Since 24 April 2018, he has served as apostolic administrator “ad nutum Sanctae Sedis” of the territorial prelature of Chuquibambilla.
