All violence against a woman is “a crime that destroys the harmony that God willed to give the world: the harmony, the poetry and the beauty,” said Pope Francis.

At the end of his long address to the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Holy See, which he received on January 9, 2020 for the New Year greetings, the Holy Father recalled the 70th anniversary of the proclamation of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary into Heaven. He then addressed “a particular thought to all women,” 25 years after the Fourth United Nations World Conference on Woman (Beijing, 1995).

The Pontiff hoped that “in the whole world the precious role of women in society is ever more recognized and that all forms of injustice, inequalities and violence” against them cease. “All violence done to woman is a profanation of God,” he stressed.
