Resignation of bishop of São Luís de Montes Belos, Brazil, and appointment of successor
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of São Luís de Montes Belos, Brazil, presented by Bishop Carmelo Scampa.
The Pope has appointed as bishop of São Luís de Montes Belos, Brazil, the Reverend Lindomar Rocha Mota, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Diamantina, currently parish priest of Santo Antônio in Curvelo.
Reverend Lindomar Rocha Mota
The Rev. Lindomar Rocha Mota was born on 20 November 1971 in Arataca, diocese of Itabuna, Bahia State. He studied philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte and theology at the Regina Apostolorum University in Rome. He then obtained a licenciate in spirituality from the Pontifical Teresianum Institute in Rome and a licentiate and doctorate in philosophy from the Pontifical Gregorian University. He also holds a post-doctorate qualification in democracy and human rights from the University of Coimbra in Portugal.
On 26 July 1998 he was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of Diamantina, where he held the following positions: rector of the minor seminary (2000-2003); chancellor of the Metropolitan Curia (2001); parish vicar of the Cathedral (2002-2013); rector of the major seminary (2002-2003); director of the archdiocesan Institute of Philosophy and Theology (2006); spiritual director of the major seminary (2007); parish priest of São José in São José da Lagoa (2008-2013); vicar forane of Forania di Curvelo (2013); and parish vicar of São Judas Tadeu in Curvelo (2015-2018). In addition, he has served as counselor of the Episcopal Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith of the Brazilian Episcopal Conference, and for several years has held the role of professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte.
He is currently pastor of Santo Antônio in Curvelo (since 2019), director of the archdiocesan Faculty of Curvelo (since 2012) and professor at the major seminary of Diamantina and the Pontifical Catholic University of Belo Horizonte.
Resignation of bishop of Nova Friburgo, Brazil, and appointment of apostolic administrator sede vacante of the same diocese
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Nova Friburgo, Brazil, presented by Bishop Edney Gouvêa Mattoso, and has appointed Bishop Paulo Antônio De Conto, emeritus of Montenegro, as apostolic administrator sede vacante of the same diocese.
Appointment of coadjutor archbishop of the archdiocese of Vrhbosna, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
The Holy Father has appointed as coadjutor archbishop of the archdiocese of Vrhbosna, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina Bishop Tomo Vukšić, transferring him from the office of military ordinary for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Bishop Tomo Vukšić
Bishop Tomo Vukšić was born in Studenci, in the diocese of Mostar-Duvno, on 9 January 1954. After completing his philosophical-theological studies in the Sarajevo seminary, he served in the Yugoslav army. He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Mostar-Duvno on 29 June 1980. After ordination, he served as parish vicar in the Cathedral of Mostar for two years. He was subsequently sent to study in Rome, where he obtained a doctorate in ecumenical theology from the Pontifical Oriental Institute, and a licentiate in canon law at the Pontifical Urban University. Upon returning to his diocese he was appointed as director of the Theological Institute of Mostar, as well as vice-rector of the Faculty of Theology of Sarajevo, where he also taught. In 2009 he was appointed as vicar general of the diocese of Mostar-Duvno.
He was a member of the Joint Commission for the implementation of the Basic Agreement between the Holy See and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On 1 February 2011 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him military ordinary for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
