Pope Names Auxiliary Bishop of San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Mexico

The Holy Father has appointed as auxiliary bishop of the diocese of San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Mexico, the Reverend Luis Manuel López Alfaro, vicar general of the same diocese, assigning him the titular see of Garba.

Reverend Luis Manuel López Alfaromexico

The Reverend Luis Manuel López Alfaro was born in Mexico City on June 21, 1963. After graduating in agricultural engineering, he studied at the major seminary of Toluca, receiving priestly ordination on 15 August 1991.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar, formator, and spiritual director of the minor seminary of Toluca, parish priest, dean and member of the presbyteral council of the archdiocese of Toluca. In 2004 he transferred to the diocese of San Cristóbal de Las Casas where he was parish priest, vicar for pastoral ministry, spiritual director of the diocesan seminary, and member of the presbyteral council and college of consulters. He is currently vicar-general.
