Pope Francis has appointed Rev. Bruce Lewandowski, C.SS.R. as Auxiliary Bishop of Baltimore.

Father Lewandowski is a priest of the Redemptorist Province of Baltimore and currently serves as Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The appointment was publicized today in Washington, D.C. by Archbishop Christophe Pierre, apostolic nuncio to the United States.

Bishop-designate Lewandowski was born in 1968 in Toledo, Ohio. He professed his solemn vows as a Redemptorist on September 10, 1988, and was ordained to the priesthood on May 7, 1994.

Father Lewandowski attended St. Alphonsus College in Suffield, Connecticut. Assignments after ordination include: St. Cecilia Parish in New York, NY (1994-1996), Immaculate Conception Parish in the Bronx, NY (1996-1998), Seelos House, Vieux Fort in St. Lucia, West Indies (1998-2000), Pastor at St. Boniface in Philadelphia, PA (2000-2006), Pastor at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kensington, PA (2006-2011), and Vicar for Cultural Ministries for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (2011-2015). He has been pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus/Sagrado Corazon de Jesus in Baltimore, MD since 2016, and has also served as Interim Delegate for Ministry to Hispanic Catholics in the Archdiocese of Baltimore since August 2019. He speaks both English and Spanish.

The Archdiocese of Baltimore is comprised of 4,801 square miles in the state of Maryland and has a total population of 3,261,853 of which 501,174 are Catholic. Archbishop William E. Lori the current bishop of Baltimore.
