May the examples of Saints Augustine and his patient mother, Saint Monica, and their intercession encourage everyone to sincerely seek the Truth of the Gospel…
Toward the conclusion of his weekly General Audience, Pope Francis remembered the great example of these “two great saints” ahead of their liturgical feasts.
Saint Monica’s day is tomorrow, Aug. 27, and her son’s falls on Friday, Aug. 28.
Addressing the elderly, the young, the sick and the newlyweds, the Argentine Pope said the mother and son were «united on earth by family ties and in heaven by the same destiny of glory.”
“May their example and their intercession,» he prayed, «encourage everyone to sincerely seek the Truth of the Gospel.»
Next week, Pope Francis will resume his General Audiences with the presence of faithful. All health protocols will be followed, no tickets will be required, and instead of being held in St. Peter’s Square or the Vatican’s Paul VI Hall, the audience will take place in the Courtyard of San Damaso of the Apostolic Palace.
For the 9:30 am audience, faithful and pilgrims will start to be given entry as early as 7:30 am from the Bronze Doors on the right side of the Colonnade.
