Resignation and appointment of the Bishop of Subotica (Serbia)

The Holy Father accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the Diocese of Subotica (Serbia), presented by HE Mgr. János Pénzes.

The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of Subotica (Serbia) the Rev. Mgr. Slavko Večerin, currently Vicar General of Subotica and parish priest in Sombor (Serbia).

Curriculum vitae
HE Msgr. Slavko Večerin was born on June 6, 1957, in Subotica-Palić, in the Diocese of Subotica. After high school, he entered the Major Seminary in Zagreb, as a pupil for the Diocese of Subotica.

He was ordained a priest on August 14, 1983, incardinating himself in the Diocese of Subotica.

He carried out the priestly ministry as parochial vicar in the Parish of the Holy Trinity in Sombor (1983-1985), as parish administrator of the Parish of St. Paul in Bač, also in charge of the pastoral care of the villages of Deronje and Tovariševo (1985-1991). Later, he was appointed Spiritual Father of the Paulinum Minor Seminary, of the Diocese of Subotica and Archivist of the Diocesan Curia, also holding the position of Administrator of the Parish of San Rocco, in Subotica (1991-1994). From 1994 to 2005 he was Secretary of the Bishop of Subotica. He was also pastor of the Parish of Saints Peter and Paulin Bajmok (1998-2008). On November 28, 2005, he was appointed Vicar General of the Diocese of Subotica, an office he has held up to the present. From 2011 to 2016 he was also parish priest of the Parish of Mary Mother of the Church in Subotica. He was a member of various diocesan councils and commissions.

Since 2016 he has been parish priest of the Parish of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Sombor.

Appointment of the Bishop of the Eparchy of Križevci for the faithful of the Byzantine rite (Croatia)

The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of the Eparchy of Križevci for the faithful of the Byzantine rite (Croatia) Msgr. Milan Stipić, hitherto vacant Apostolic Administrator seat of the same circumscription.

Curriculum vitae
HE Msgr. Milan Stipić was born in Bosanski Novi (Bosnia and Herzegovina) on December 28, 1978. After elementary school, he enrolled in the Zagreb Minor Seminary. In 1997 he continued his formation at the Greek-Catholic Major Seminary in Zagreb and his studies at the local Faculty of Catholic Theology.

On October 18, 2003, he was ordained a priest for the Eparchy of Križevci.

He held the office of parish priest in Kašt and Radatovići. In 2007 he became Archpriest and was involved in pastoral care for the Greek-Catholic faithful in Dalmatia. From 2012 to 2019 he was parish priest in Jastrebarsko. On March 18, 2019, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator, vacant seat of the Eparchy, after the acceptance of the resignation from pastoral governance presented by the Bishop HE Monsignor Nicola Kekić.

In addition to Croatian, he speaks Russian and Ukrainian.
