(ZENIT News / Washington, DC, 26.10.2022).- Last week President Biden said that his main legislative priority, after the mid-term elections, will be to codify a national right to abortion. Archbishop William E. Lori, President of the Pro-Life Activities Committee of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, issued this answer in response:

“The President is gravely mistaken by continuing to seek all possible ways to facilitate abortion, instead of using his power to increase the support and care of mothers in difficult situations. This obstinate extremism must end, and we implore President Biden to recognize the humanity of unborn children and the genuine care which gives life that women in this country need. As Pastors who deal daily with the tragic impacts of abortion, we know that abortion is a violent act that ends the life of unborn children and wounds an incalculable number of women. The Catholic Church wishes to continue in our work with the Government and leaders to protect the right to life of every human being, to ensure that pregnant mothers and mothers have full support in the care of their children before and after the birth.”

A few days ago, in the context of a Catholic symposium on the Eucharist, the Archbishop Emeritus of Philadelphia, Monsignor Charles Chaput, said clearly that Biden is not in communion with the Catholic faith: “When you freely break communion with the Church of Jesus Christ and its teachings, you cannot pretend to be in communion when it’s convenient. That is a way of lying. Biden is not in communion with the Catholic faith. And any priest who now offers the President Communion shares in his hypocrisy.”

In a recent interview with a “transgender” influencer, Biden also expressed his position on “gender change” operations for children: “I don’t think any State or anyone should have the right to make it a moral question. As a legal question, I think it’s wrong.”
