These Are the Legionaries of Christ That Will Be Ordained in Rome in May 2025

The men religious that will be Ordained come from the following countries: 9 from Mexico, 3 from Colombia, 2 from Germany, 2 from Brazil, 2 from Venezuela, and 1 from the United States, 1 from El Salvador, 1 from Argentina, 1 from Spain and 1 from France.

(ZENIT News / Rome, 04.04.2025).- On Saturday, May 3, 2025, 23 men religious of the Congregation of the Legionaries of Christ will receive Priestly Ordination from Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life. The Ordination will take place in the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside-the-Walls, and will be broadcast live in several languages, through the Legionaries of Christ YouTube institutional channel.

The men religious that will be Ordained come from the following countries: 9 from Mexico, 3 from Colombia, 2 from Germany, 2 from Brazil, 2 from Venezuela, and 1 from the United States, 1 from El Salvador, 1 from Argentina, 1 from Spain and 1 from France.

Twelve of the new priests began their vocational process in one of the Legionaries of Christ’s Vocational Centers (Minor Seminaries), and 11 more did so by directly entering one of the Legion of Christ’s noviciates after completing their pre-university studies, having paused their university studies or after completing them. One of the upcoming priests has another brother who is also a Legionary religious.

Up to December 2024, the Legion of Christ had 1,033 priests out of a total of 1,309 Legionaries of Christ. The average age of all the priests is 51, although it drops to 46 years if the total number is considered. Among the Legionaries there are 3 Bishops, of which one is a Cardinal.

Although 23 Legionaries will be Ordained on Saturday, May 3, a total of 27 men religious will be Ordained during 2025. In addition to those already mentioned, there is 1 Mexican, 1 Salvadoran, 1 Brazilian, and 1 Chilean. Considering the total, 16 come from a Vocational Center and 12 entered the novitiate directly. One of them was a consecrated lay member of the Regnum Christi.

It is expected that almost 20 Legionaries will receive Diaconal Ordination during 2025.
