Manila's World Youth Day Leads to a Book

The 128-page book is more visual than textual in content and form, AsiaNews reported. One of its co-authors, Peachy Yamsuan, media coordinator of the Manila Archdiocese, commissioned seven photographers to record the event, which saw 5 million youths gather at Manila’s Luneta Park.

The book was published thanks to funds provided by Francisco Alba, the Philippine ambassador to the Holy See. He has also donated 5,000 copies to Filipino bishops for sale to parishioners. All the proceeds will be used to support charitable initiatives, the ambassador said.

Archbishop Fernando Capalla, president of the episcopal conference, expressed his gratitude. «This book brings back wonderful memories,» he said. «The Holy Father’s visit will remain in our hearts and minds.»
