7,000 Journalists Covering Youth Day

COLOGNE, Germany, AUG. 17, 2005 (Zenit.org).- Some 7,000 journalists from all over the world have arrived in Cologne to report on the 20th World Youth Day.

«The new Pope is without a doubt the new center of attention for journalists,» said Jan Gropp, vice president of the accreditation section of the World Youth Day Office.

«We are surprised by the demand,» he said.

Given the number of journalists, a press office has been set up in the Cologne Fair Center, with 876 working posts.
