Bishop Appointed for Kroonstad

KROONSTAD, South Africa, APRIL 1, 2011 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI named Father Peter Holiday of the Archdiocese of Johannesburg, South Africa, as bishop of Kroonstad.

Bishop-elect Holiday, 59, succeeds Archbishop Stephen Brislin, who was appointed archbishop of Cape Town in 2009.

Born in Durban, South Africa, Peter Holiday was ordained a priest in 1992. He has been serving as pastor of Our Lady of the Wayside in Maryvale.

The Kroonstad Diocese has 87,230 Catholics, served by 19 priests and 14 religious.
