The bishop told the Misna missionary agency that on Sunday an Antonov plane dropped six bombs against civilian and humanitarian targets, killing four people and injuring seven.

«These operations are part of a strategy of terror launched against the innocent,» Bishop Mazzolari said. He added that «there are no SPLA [Sudanese Popular Liberation Army] rebels in Malwakon, but only humanitarian agencies.»

«We firmly condemn this savage attack against our people, at a time when hunger advances inexorably,» he said.
