Apostolic Almoner Celebrates Funeral of Homeless Woman

She Died Last February

On October 17, 2019, the Apostolic Almoner, Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, celebrated the funeral of Hanna Lidia Czajer, a Polish homeless woman, stated a Holy See press release.

The septuagenarian woman died of acute pneumonia last February in the San Carlo di Nancy Roman Hospital; however, the administrative procedures delayed the burial.

Cardinal Krajewski celebrated her funeral in the parish church of San Romano Martyr, the parish closest to the Tiburtina train station, where Hanna Lidia Czajer had lived since 2014 and where she fell ill.

Eight months after her death the judge finally concluded the procedures, making it possible for her funeral to take place.
