Commemorating the Faithfully Departed, Pope Francis to Pray for Pastors Who Passed Away This Year

Pope Francis will pray for patriarchs, cardinals, bishops who died this year, totaling 163, during the Mass he will preside on Saturday, November 3, 2018, in St. Peter’s Basilica, at the altar of the Chair of St. Peter.
According to Il Sismografo, the faithfully departed being remembered died between October 30, 2017 and October 24, 2018.
The Pope will pray for cardinals from Italy, United States, Germany, United Kingdom, Lebanon, Colombia and Nicaragua and France.
Those being remembered are Cardinals Bernard PANAFIEU (Marseille, France) and Jean-Louis TAURAN (Vatican City, France), Andrea CORDERO LANZA DI MONTEZEMOLO (Rome, Italy), Bernard Francis LAW (USA), Karl LEHMANN (Mainz, Germany) ), Keith Michael Patrick O’BRIEN (Edinburgh, Great Britain), Darío CASTRILLÓN HOYOS (Vatican City, Colombia), Miguel OBANDO BRAVO, SDB (Managua, Nicaragua), as well as Patriarch Emeritus of Antioch of the Syrians, Ignatius Peter VIII ABDEL-AHAD (Lebanon).
