The Vatican press office in an announcement today said the document was written by the Pontifical Council for the Interpretation of Legislative Texts, presided over by Cardinal Julián Herranz, in cooperation with other Vatican dicasteries that are directly concerned.

In addition to Cardinal Herranz, the press conference will be addressed by officials of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith; the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments; the Apostolic Signature, the Church’s supreme court; and the Roman Rota.

The text will be published in two editions: in Latin/Italian and Latin/English.

In his annual address to the judges and lawyers of the Roman Rota last Saturday, John Paul II warned against the temptation of considering failed marriages as being automatically invalid.
