Pope Encourages Young People to Discover Christ in Prayer

VATICAN CITY, APRIL 26, 2004 (Zenit.org).- John Paul II encouraged 210 young people from France to discover Christ in prayer and in the Gospel.

The youths from the Archdiocese of Rouen are in Rome to participate in a week of spiritual retreat and group get-togethers. Some of them received the sacrament of confirmation today.

“I invite you to make your pilgrimage a time of spiritual renewal,” the Pope told the young people Saturday during an audience. “You will be able to discern the will of the Lord, who wants to help you to live a beautiful life; your interior life will have a new breath.”

“Do not be afraid to open your hearts and to let Christ speak to you,” he added. “Dedicate time habitually to prayer and meditation of the Gospel.”
