The Holy Father has appointed as apostolic nuncio in Cuba Archbishop Giampiero Gloder, of the titular see of Telde, currently president of the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy.
The Pope has appointed Archbishop Joseph Marino, of the titular see of Natchitoches, currently apostolic nuncio in Malaysia and East Timor and apostolic delegate in Brunei, as president of the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy.
Bishop Giampiero Gloder was born in 1958 and was ordained a priest in 1983 for the diocese of Padua.
Within the Vatican diplomacy, he was advisor of nunciature, head of office with special charges to the secretary of state.
In December 2014, Pope Francis appointed him vice-camerling of the Apostolic Chamber. It was also the Argentine pope who consecrated him bishop in October 2013.
Originally from the United States, Bishop Marino was Apostolic Nuncio to Malaysia and East Timor and Apostolic Delegate to Brunei since 2013.
Bishop Marino was also Apostolic Nuncio to Bangladesh from 2008 to 2013.
The community of the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy, located on the Minerva Square in Rome, is made up of a few dozen priests from all countries, who are formed for the pastoral ministry of the apostolic nunciatures and missions of the Holy See in the world.
