Pope Francis on May 6, 2018, made a pastoral visit to the Parish of the Blessed Sacrament in Tor De ‘Schiavi, Rome. He was joined by Cardinal Luis Tagle, Archbishop of Manila and President of Caritas Internationalis.
In addition to celebrating Mass and visiting various groups in the parish, the Holy Father blessed the new House of Joy, a center for people with disabilities. It was built in the attic of the parish in an area that had been used as a warehouse.
Pope Francis also heard confession and administered the sacrament of confirmation to a young girl from the parish suffering from mitochondrial disease and her mother.
