Visit to Greek Island Includes Visiting, Lunch With Refugees, Signing Joint Declaration With Ecumenical Patriarch

Below is Pope Francis’ schedule during his visit to the Greek Island of Lesbos today:

Saturday, April 16, 2016
07:00 Departure from Rome’s Fiumicino Airport to Mytilene.
10:20 Arrival at Mytilene International Airport.
Welcome ceremony: The Holy Father will be received by the Prime Minister; by Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew; His Beatitude Ieronymos, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, and, soon after, Msgr. Fragkiskos Papamanolis, president of the Greek Episcopal Conference.
10:35 Private Meeting with Prime Minister (in the airport).
10:55 Transfer by minibus with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and His Beatitude Ieronymos to Moria refugee camp.
11:15 Arrival at Moria refugee camp. Visit with refugees
12:25 Speeches of Archbishop Ieronymos, Patriarch Bartholomew and Pope Francis from the podium in the courtyard of the refugee registration.
12:40 Signing of joint declaration
12.45 Lunch of the three religious leaders with some refugees
13:30 Transfer by minibus to the port
13:45 Arrival at the Presidium of the Coast Guard
Meeting with citizens and with the Catholic community. A remembering of the victims of migration
Address of the Holy Father
At the end, the three religious leaders will each recite a short prayer for the victims of migration. Calling for a minute of silence, the three leaders will receive laurel wreaths from children, which will be launched into the sea.
14:15 Transfer to the airport (3 Km).
14:30 At the airport:
-Private meeting with the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece
-Private meeting with the Ecumenical Patriarch
-Private meeting with Prime Minister
15:00 Farewell Ceremony
15:15 Departure by plane from the International Airport of Mytilene to Rome.
16:30 Arrival at Rome’s Ciampino airport.
