After being elected to another six-year term, at the missionaries' general chapter, Mother Bono said that "communion, co-responsibility in diversity, and richness of cultural exchanges will continue to make the institute's life flourish."

Consolata officials, who are holding their general chapter in Brazil, will soon elect their general council. The institute has 858 nuns and novices.

Blessed Joseph Allamano (1851-1926) of Turin, Italy, was the founder of the men's and women's branches of the Consolata Missionaries. He established the institutes exclusively for missionary service.

Since their foundation in 1910, the Consolata women missionaries have extended their activity to 25 countries of Africa, the Americas and Europe.
