John Paul II today received the first copy of the Latin Book of Gospels, prepared by the Vatican Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.

«God has chosen the Word as vehicle to reveal himself,» the Pope said. The work brings together in one book the Gospel readings relating to different feasts, according to the liturgical calendar.

Admiring the artistic beauty of its pages, the Pope said that they express «the eternal mystery of love for man enclosed in God´s very own heart, revealed tangibly and sublimely in his beloved Son.»
