Sister Muriel, of the Congregation of the Sisters Auxiliaries of Purgatory, is dedicated to the education and human development of the neediest, in the isolated region of Nacajuca near Villahermosa.
Sister Muriel began her evangelizing work 33 years ago, when she arrived in «Nacajuca with the idea given to me by the Creator to educate people: not to give them fish to eat but the hook to fish.»
In Nacajuca, «I saw the conditions of the municipality: There was no road to Villahermosa, and I saw the ignorance and poverty in which those people lived, and the great waste of so many human values and riches.»
Sister Muriel, a native of Mexico City, is one of the moving forces for the integral development of the inhabitants of Nacajuca.
Her educational campaign included the «importation» of dozens of teachers dedicated to the education of children and youth.
