According to Christine Boisselier, executive director of Clonaid, the initiative is in response to «the growing demand for cloning» in the African continent.
Criticis, however, warn that she hopes to turn poor Africans into guinea pigs, the information service said.
Boisselier said that African scientists are organizing themselves to use the «cloning machine.» Referred to as RMX2010, the machine will fuse a de-nucleated ovum with a donor’s genetic material, Clonaid explained.
Boisselier claimed that, despite some miscarriages, several pregnancies are under way following the implantation of cloned embryos.
