The newspaper today said the Crown Prosecution Service, which has studied the results of a Sussex police investigation, has decided that no further action should be taken.

The allegations date from 1985, when he was bishop of Arundel and Brighton, and concern his admission that he failed to report allegations of child abuse against Father Michael Hill. Bishop Murphy-O’Connor instead moved Hill to the chaplaincy at Gatwick Airport, where he believed that Hill would not be a danger to children.
