On this Sunday, the last of the Liturgical Year, «with the Apostle Paul, we acknowledge that God’s plan is ‘to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth’ (Ephesians, 1:10).»
John Paul II emphasized that in the contemplation of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, «the mission of believers assumes full importance, called to cooperate in the variety of ministries and charisms, in the building of his Kingdom.»
The Pope went on to thank «all those who put their talents and musical competence at the service of the liturgy.» Many were present in Rome to attend the Congress on Sacred Music of the St. Cecilia Association.
Finally, the Holy Father turned to Mary, whom we thus invoke as «Mother of the King» and «Queen of Heaven and Earth,» so that through her intercession «our life» will be «a song of praise and fidelity to God.»
