At the invitation of the Italian Foreign Ministry, the journalists went abroad to talk about their experiences and impressions of the Holy Father, as a way to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his pontificate.
The initiative involved 40 Italian Cultural Institutes. The journalists’ lectures have now been collected in a voluminous book entitled «Go Out to the Whole World: The Italian Vaticanists and John Paul II,» published by the Dehonian House of Bologna.
Topics addressed include John Paul II’s idea of Europe, peace, the communication of hope, the ethics of solidarity, social thought, ecumenism and interreligious dialogue.
The lectures were held at the headquarters of the Italian Cultural Institutes worldwide. Editor Piero Schiavazzi describes the book as «a travel diary of many voices.»
