Zambian President Meets With Pope

VATICAN CITY, JUNE 20, 2005 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI received President Levy Patrick Mwanawasa of Zambia in a brief audience.

Journalists on hand said today’s meeting appeared cordial. After the private meeting in the Pope’s study, which lasted six minutes, the Holy Father greeted the president’s wife, Maureen, and their entourage.

Solidarity with Africa has been one of the topics of international politics that the Bishop of Rome has most emphasized during the first months of his pontificate.
