The mission, which will continue through Oct. 9, is an initiative of the youth office of the Diocese of Rome, based on the idea of peer evangelization.

Scheduled events include evangelization activities in the streets, meetings in schools and hospitals, reflection and prayer in St. Agnes’ Church in Piazza Navona, and concerts in the piazza.

Benedict XVI’s addresses in Cologne during World Youth Day will also be a focus of reflection, and those who attended the youth event in Germany will gather in the Piazza del Popolo for a special event Oct. 8.

Seminarians of Rome’s major seminary are also taking part in the mission.

After last year’s mission, the School of Diocesan Evangelization was established for young people between the ages of 18-35, dedicated to profound prayer and listening to the Word of God.
