Now that Pope John Paul II will be beatified on Divine Mercy Sunday, it was indeed fitting for the spanish bishops to entitle him as Patron of WYD2011.
Considering that it was the idea of the great Pope John Paul II to initiate the first ever world youth day back in 1984, and that he continued overseeing this new tradition untill his earthly departure, I strongly believe that in heaven he shall continue to oversee all WYD’s and pray for all the youth of the world.
Therefore I earnestly request Holy Father Benedict XVI to dedicate all future world youth days under the patronage of the venerable Pope John Paul II.
