2 Auxiliaries Named for Quebec

QUEBEC, DEC. 12, 2011 (Zenit.org).- Two more auxiliary bishops have been named to assist Archbishop Gérald Cyprien Lacroix of Quebec.

The Vatican announced today the appointment of Father Gaétan Proulx of the Order of Friar Servants of Mary, and Bishop Denis Grondin Jr., of the archdiocesan clergy.

Gaétan Proulx was born in 1947 and ordained a priest in 1976.

Denis Grondin Jr. was born in 1954 and ordained a priest in 1989.

The Archdiocese of Quebec has more than 1 million Catholics — the vast majority of the region’s 1.2 million inhabitants. They are served by just over 700 priests, almost 100 permanent deacons and nearly 3,500 religious.
