DUBLIN, Ireland, MAY 21, 2012 (Zenit.org).- As the day approaches for the 50th International Eucharistic Congress in Dublin, hundreds of Irish youth are preparing a series of events that will take place at the Chiara Luce Youth Space at the congress.
The youth program, called “Get Up and Go,” will feature a mix of interactive catechesis, workshops, drama, dance and music, and is open to young adults between 17 and 25 years old.
Anna Keegan, youth program officer for the Eucharistic Congress, said, “I’m really excited to be involved in the Chiara Luce Youth Space at the International Eucharistic Congress. It gives young people an opportunity to learn more about their faith by discussing and questioning international speakers and celebrating the Eucharist together. With the mixture of fun, music, and meditation we hope to build a strong community of young faithful people. This is our time to ‘Get up and go’ to the Congress!”
The program will go on throughout the congress and includes daily morning prayer, activities led by Net Ministries National Evangelization Team of Ireland, and music by local house band Elation Ministries and 3Rock Church of Ireland Youth Initiative.
The Chiara Luce Youth Space is named after Chiara Badano, a young woman involved in the Focolare movement, who died in 1990 at the age of 18 after succumbing to bone cancer. Described as “a hurricane of light,” Badano was beatified in 2010 by Benedict XVI.
