Alaska
Bishop Paul Etienne of Cheyenne, Wyoming, was named archbishop of Anchorage, Alaska. He succeeds Archbishop Roger Schwietz, O.M.I.
Paul Etienne was born June 15, 1959, in Tell City, Indiana. He attended the North American College, Rome, and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis in 1992.
Bishop Etienne holds bachelor and licentiate of theology degrees from the Gregorian University, Rome. He was named bishop of Cheyenne in 2009, and was ordained a bishop on December 14, 2009.
The Archdiocese of Anchorage has about 28,000 Catholics.

Bishop Michael Burbidge of Raleigh was appointed bishop of Arlington, Virginia. He succeeds Bishop Paul Loverde.
Michael Burbidge was born June 16, 1957, in Philadelphia. He studied at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary and was ordained a priest for the Philadelphia Archdiocese in 1984. He holds master’s degrees in theology, administration and education, and a doctorate in education.
Bishop Burbidge was named auxiliary bishop of Philadelphia in 2002, and ordained a bishop on September 5, 2002. He then was named bishop of Raleigh in 2006.
The Diocese of Arlington has about a half million Catholics.

Bishop Martin S. Jumoad of Isabela was named archbishop of Ozamiz, Philippines. He succeeds Archbishop Jesus A. Dosado, C.M..
Martin Jumoad was born Nov. 11, 1956. He was ordained a priest in 1983, and made the prelate of Isabela in 2001.
There are about a half million Catholics in the Archdiocese of Ozamiz. They are served by 45 priests and about the same number of religious.
