A papal trip of Pope Francis to Egypt is currently ‘under study’ but the dates and the program are not yet defined. This was stated by director of the Holy See Press Office in a note issued on March 11, 2017.
Greg Burke makes this point precisely after speculation made by press after the Pope recently mentioned in an interview with German weekly Die Zeit that a trip to Egypt could take place.
In 2017, the Pope is to visit three cities in Italy: Milan on March 25, Carpi on April 2 and Genoa on May 27. He will be in Portugal, to visit Fatima, May 12 -13, and in Colombia, Sept. 6-11.
Among other destinations still under consideration, the Pope spoke several times of a trip to Asia, including India and Bangladesh. And during his recent visit to the Anglican Church in Rome, he expressed his wish to go to South Sudan.
