Resignation of archbishop of Rabaul, Papua New Guinea, and appointment of successor
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the archdiocese of Rabaul, Papua New Guinea, presented by Archbishop Francesco Panfilo, S.D.B.
The Pope has appointed Bishop Rochus Josef Tatamai of Kavieng as archbishop of the archdiocese of Rabaul, Papua New Guinea.
Appointment of bishop of Mandeville, Jamaica
The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of the diocese of Mandeville, Jamaica, the Reverend John Derek Persaud, of the clergy of Georgetown, currently vicar general, vicar for the clergy and administrator of the cathedral.
Reverend John Derek Persaud
The Reverend John Derek Persaud was born in Georgetown, Guyana, on 28 August 1956. He attended the Major Seminary of Saint John Vianney and Uganda Martyrs in Trinidad (1975-1984). He was awarded a licentiate in canon law from the Pontifical Urban University (PUU) in Rome (1997-1999). He speaks English and Italian. He was ordained a priest on 14 July for the diocese of Georgetown.
Following ordination, he served as assistant priest of the Cathedral of Georgetown (1985-1992) and parish priest of the Holy Rosary parish (1992-1997). He carried out his studies in canon law at the PUU from 1997-1999, and then went on to serve as chancellor of his diocese (1999-2001), parish priest of the Ascension parish (2000-2001), administrator of the Cathedral and vicar general (2001-2012), judicial vicar of the metropolitan tribunal (2012-2014); secretary-general of the AEC (2014-2018), and since 2019, vicar general, vicar for the clergy of the diocese of Georgetown, administrator of the Cathedral and judge at the East Antilles Tribunal.

The Holy Father has appointed the following as members of the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts: Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples; Cardinal Luis Francisco Ladaria Ferrer, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith; Cardinal Dominique Mamberti, prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura; and Cardinal Joseph Kevin Farrell, prefect of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life.
