(ZENIT News / Rome, 08.26.2024).- More than 75 experts from 26 countries will serve as speakers at the 14th edition of the Professional Seminar for Church Communications Offices, organized by the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross. The seminar will accommodate up to 400 participants.

Scheduled to take place in Rome from January 22 – 24, 2025, the seminar will coincide with the Jubilee of Communication (January 24 – 26). The recently published seminar program includes keynote addresses, panel discussions, case studies, five masterclasses, and venues for paper presentations by conference participants. Simultaneous translation will be available in English, Spanish, Italian and French.

This international forum, held every two years, is directed to communications officials from dioceses, ecclesial circumscriptions, episcopal conferences, congregations, institutes of consecrated life, movements and other Church realities.

In its thirteen previous editions, the seminar has explored critical facets of the Church’s institutional communication.  Previous editions have reflected upon, for example, building trust, listening and relevance, digital culture, crisis communications, and the fostering of relations with the media and opinion leaders. In the context of the Great Jubilee of 2025, this year’s seminar will focus on a fundamental aspect of communication in the Church: its evangelizing dimension.

The chosen theme for this edition is «Communication and evangelization: context, attitudes, experiences.» As Marco Carroggio, a member of the organizing committee, explains, “Church communication, in various dimensions, must directly or indirectly facilitate the proclamation of Christ, the Good News.”

Within the context of the 2025 Jubilee, organizers pose essential questions about the link between evangelization and communication: «How can Church communications offices bring the reality of God and his love for all people into the public discourse? How can we effectively convey stories that transmit this divine reality? How can we ensure that Church communication contributes to bringing the light of the Gospel to all environments, especially to those most in need? How can communication foster hope in a polarized context? How can church communications offices maintain focus on the essential issues?

The seminar provides “an opportunity to reflect on contemporary contexts and relevant issues in today’s world; the participation of believers in various channels of communications; styles that facilitate or hinder faith dialogue; and experiences that are a source of inspiration.»

The seminar is structured in accord with the various «paths» that facilitate the communication of the faith: the path of witness, the path of reason, and the path of the faith.
